MEET ADAM
NEW LEADERSHIP DELIVERING RESULTS FOR OUR COMMUNITY
ABOUT ADAM
I was appointed to the Washoe County School Board on November 9, 2021 to complete the term of a vacant seat through January 2, 2023. I would be honored to have your vote to serve a four-year term.
I am a proud native Nevadan with nearly 30 years of public service experience, and a product of public education. Most importantly, I am a working, single parent to two children enrolled in the Washoe County School District.
I attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and received a bachelor’s degree in business administration. I also learned to fly. But a significant hearing impairment I suffered at age three prevented me from flying commercially. Later, I received a graduate degree in political science from UNR.
My career has focused on public administration, communications, public information, and legislative affairs, with a strong focus on building relationships at all levels of government. I have worked for multiple organizations in southern and northern Nevada and served in Washington D.C. for a Member of Congress representing the Silver State.
Today, my full-time job is with the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District where I serve as the District’s Communications Manager and engage on a multitude of crisis communications issues and education programs.
Here at home, I have been involved with a variety of community activities. I served on the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority Board of Trustees from 2011-17, and was the Chair of the Board for fiscal year 2013.
I’ve been active with community activities such as Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Girls Scouts, Junior Achievement, and a graduate of the Chamber’s Leadership Program. I served on the Board of Secret Witness, and at one time served on the City of Sparks Advisory Committee.
Since 2018, I have been teaching part-time as a political science instructor at Truckee Meadows Community College. I also teach continuing education classes to public officials across our state; But the GREATEST and most important title I will always have is Daddy to Aydan and Reagan.
ADAM’S VALUES
My core values are faith, family, and service. I understand the concerns, anxieties, and the fears of moms and dads, families, and students throughout our School District. I’ve talked to them, I get it – because I share them too. I also witness the difficulties our students face, the intense pressure from today’s society, and their concerns of an uncertain future. I want to be part of lifting up our students by accentuating the hopes and dreams they can achieve, despite the barriers.
I also appreciate the hard work and dedication of our teachers and school staff and am dedicated to ensuring they have every tool and resource available to them to be successful in the classroom.
I am a non-partisan voice, a strong believer in positive and collaborative governance, and civil discourse. With a balance approached that is laser focused on our children’s education and well-being, support from parents and families, I believe our teachers and educators can deliver a quality education that will ultimately prepare our youth for their future.
As an individual who had to struggle with hearing and speech to overcome the adversity of a disability, I know the importance of a compassionate public organization dedicated to providing quality education that will prepare all our children of all ethnicities and genders, for their future.
There is no problem that cannot be solved with education. I am asking for your vote for the at-large school board seat in District F. I would be honored to continue to serve and represent our families and students in Washoe County Schools.
